Working together

We want everyone who works at or with Microsoft to be safe and healthy. That’s why we ask employees to be aware of any risks presented by the tasks they perform at Microsoft. This way, employees can plan how to do their work safely and avoid any potential hazards. This applies to all people who work at our sites, including those directly employed by Microsoft and any contract or temporary workers employed by a third party. Occupational medicine

Confidential occupational medicine services at Microsoft Germany include:

Eyesight examinations
Stress assessments
Audiometric testing
Ergonomic assessments (including for home office)
Medical consultation for colleagues with special requirements (e.g., pregnancy, long-term illness, disability)
Vaccinations for business travel

Local health and safety programs

Travel medicine

A pretravel occupational medical consultation is required for employees traveling for business to tropical and subtropical regions. Consultations include counseling, vaccinations, and examinations.

Reintegration after medical leave

Employees who have been on medical leave for more than 42 days within one year are invited to participate in a reintegration process to support their return to work.

Traffic safety training

To help reduce traffic-related incidents, Microsoft employees can access training courses for car, motorcycle, and bicycle traffic safety through the employers’ liability insurance association.

Mental health resources

Microsoft offers a variety of resources, such as confidential 24/7 counseling for difficult times – whether the reasons are private or work-related, or our employee-led Mental Health Ambassadors community.

Addiction prevention

Addiction affects many people and can be challenging to navigate in a work environment. HRWeb provides internal and external support resources, guidance for employees concerned about a colleague, and information to help managers meet their duty of care responsibilities.

Risk assessments

Together with our medical partner and safety specialists, Microsoft assesses hazards for employees and on-site personnel annually and determines appropriate actions to address concerns. Local staff conducts regular inspections to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

ISO 45001 certification

Munich-HQ in Microsoft Germany is certified according to ISO 45001 and externally audited every year. Download our audit certificate.

Safety for visitors and external staff

All visitors must review any posted safety guidance before entering Microsoft France premises.
External staff must receive induction and must provide required documentation before starting work.

Safety Committee

The Safety Committee works to improve health and safety in our workplace. The primary functions are: 

Champion safety procedures and support safety communications to employees.

Ensure measures proposed to prevent work-related accidents and illnesses are implemented within the organization.

The Safety Committee is composed of managers, employees, and specialists. Colleagues interested in joining the committee can contact  Global OHS  for more information. 

Data centers participate in the Safety Committee for their region.

Local reporting requirements

To foster a culture of health and safety at Microsoft, employees, interns, and external staff are required to report all work-related accidents, injuries, near misses, and unsafe conditions via SafetyHub Report. Learn more on the Global OHS  reporting  page. 

Microsoft employees should contact Microsoft Germany’s insurance service after an accident to clarify insurance coverage.

Local training

All employees are asked to complete the annual OHS refresher training via Viva Learning. Please check your list of mandatory trainings to verify if it’s due.
